Today was so yucky, rainy, and gross. I ended up taking a cab from the office to get out of the cold. Not my favorite thing to do, as you know, but it was the worth it. I got home EARLY, which was great. Since I had a light breakfast, and medium lunch, I was ready for a snack the second I walked in the door. I had a cocoa banana scone with a tbsp of nonfat vanilla yogurt for ‘icing’:

    Snack was 145 calories, 27 g carbs, 4g fat, and 4g protein.

After a few hours of cleaning the apt, making some phone calls, and fooling around, I was ready to head to the gym. I needed a little something to fuel my workout though. So I had a slice of Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel Bread with a tbsp PB:

Pre Workout Snack was 175 calories, 21g carbs, 9g fat, and 7g protein.

I’ve been feeling a little frustrated with my workouts lately - just a little bored and not really challenged. My ultimate solution to this is to incorporate swimming into my workout, but I haven’t gotten a bathing suit yet. On a side note, have you shopped for a one piece in any major retailor lately? They’re impossible to find - it’s all bikinis and monokinis! Gap, Old Navy, J Crew - nobody carries them in stores, you have to go online! They do carry them at sporting goods stores, so I’m planning on getting one this weekend. Anyway - in order to mix things up in the mean time, I wanted to do something different. I was all over the gym - I did some weight machines, free weights, treadmill, and then I found the stepmill!!!! I’ve never done the stepmill before, and I have bad memories of the stairmaster in the past. But the stepmill was awesome - I was pouring sweat - such a great workout! Plus - and this might sound weird - I liked it because I didn’t have to be moving really fast to get a good burn going. I’m not that coordinated and DEFINITELY clumsy, so I don’t really like to move fast - I feel kind of out of control and that makes me nervous, like I might fall or something. Running outside really makes me feel vulnerable for that reason. But on the stepmill, I wasn’t moving very fast, but boy was my heart pumping! Stepmill, weights, treadmill = 447 calories burned.

After walking around a cold, rainy, wet city all day, my friend Whitney decided to go back to her family’s house in NJ because she wasn’t feeling well. P had already set up a boy’s night out since I was going to be out. So I came home to make a light dinner for myself. I had a smoked salmon wrap: a whole wheat tortilla, 2 oz smoked salmon, a wedge of Light Laughing Cow cheese, and capers. Along with, I had some apple slices.

And apple slices, I had all but 4 of these:

Dinner was 338 calories, 62g carbs, 11g fat, and 20g protein.

At one of my favorite restaurants in the city, Pure Food and Wine, has the most delicious ‘ice cream’ made from coconut milk. I found a carton of ‘Coconut Sorbet’ at TJ’s the other day that was made from coconut milk, so I figured it would be similar.

Holy crap, this stuff it was amazing!!!!!! I had a half cup:

This is actually a little less than a half cup - the rest made it in my mouth too quickly! I have to be honest, I was going to have a smaller cup, but this was soooo good, I had to have more!

Dessert was 160 calories, 22g carbs, 8g fat, and 1g protein.

Hope you guys are having a good Friday night!

That cocoa banana scone looks good! I love the yogurt “icing” XD

And you noticed the difficulty in finding a one-piece as well! I don’t get what the dealio is with the bikini explosion–and it’s so frustrating when all you want is a simple little bathing suit :(
And that tortilla looks *heavenly* ~smoked salmon is the BEST

Love the scone with the “icing” - fun!

Coconut sorbet is HEAVENLY - yum! It’s so full of “body,” and less icy than other sorbet flavors.

Happy Saturday! Hope the weather is better today for you! :0)

Hehe, it really does look like icing, right? :)
Oatmeal - Oh good, I thought the bikini explosion was just me! I’m kind of shy with stuff like that - you won’t find me in a bikini no matter how thin I am! PS. Smoked salmon and I have a very serious love affair going on. It completes me.

VeggieGirl - Happy Saturday to you! You went to Pure Food when you were in NYC, right? Wasn’t their coconut ‘ice cream’ the BEST??

That’s really funny, I will wear a bikini no matter what. I do usually wear a swim skirt at the pool over my bottoms now. The last pregancy was not kind to my thighs! But I love the sun too much to cover up in a one piece. Plus if I have even a little belly, I think I look pregnant!

Good for you, Tina O! I’m just toooo shy! :P
