  • Strawberry Banana Oatmeal

    Hey guys,

Well I knew it would happen, but I didn’t know it would happen this soon! I forgot my camera at home. I was so preoccupied with getting over to Ira and Martha’s to get my wallet, that I ran out the door without my camera. LUCKILY, the Bumble and Bumble salon is right near P’s office. So we’re going to meet up after my haircut so I can get my camera. So I will have it for my lunch post. Thanks Peter!

So for breakfast this morning, I had my first muesli-failure. :( Or semi-failure, really. I made Strawberry Banana Muesli Oatmeal:

    • 1/2c oatmeal
    • 1/4c hemp milk
    • 1/4c nonfat milk
    • 1/2c nonfat vanilla yogurt
    • cinnamon
    • vanilla
    • medium banana
    • 3 large strawberries

    Serves 1.

I let this sit in the fridge overnight, but when I got to the office, I didn’t like the texture of the cold banana - it tasty grainy and weird. So I popped it in the microwave for 1.30 min - MUCH better. It looked something like this:

But with banana and no almond. Breakfast was 353 calories, 69g carbs, 7g fat, and 13g protein.

In a laundry fury last night, I accidentally threw in all my gym clothes. Grr. So I couldn’t go to the gym this AM, even though I really wanted to. Maybe if I hadn’t sent the laundry out, I would have made the gym, then I wouldn’t have forgotten my camera, and so on… ah well.

My B&B appt is at 1 PM, which cuts right into lunch. I’ll probably eat my snack on the way over there, and get lunch on my way back. My snack pre-haircut will be:

Snack will be 250 calories, 42g carbs, 6g fat, and 11g protein.

    Have a great Monday!

I HATE when I take stuff to the laundry that I need. So annoying.

Thanks so much, Martin! Sure, feel free to link me - I’d love it!

Arielle - I do send out my laundry to be done - so it’s my own fault for being a brat. :P

Where did you get the diet? I’m vegetarian, but still can’t lose those extra 20 post-baby pounds. Grr.

I’m sorry, Best Parent Ever, what diet? Let me know!

  • Monday, May 12th, 2008 at 20:01 | #8

Sorry. How do you decide what you’re going to eat each day? And where do you get the recipes?

    Hey Best Parent,
Love your blog - really funny. As far as how I decide what I’m going to eat each day, I base it off of getting enough of each food group, getting a good amount of fiber, keeping my energy up, balancing my protein, fat, and carbs to their appropriate ratios, my mood and appetite, what’s in my fridge and what’s in my checkbook. There is no real ‘diet’, no forbidden foods or limited menu options. My recipes come from magazines, other food blogs, friends and family, cookbooks, restaurants recreations and the internet - basically wherever I find inspiration! Sometimes I’m eating a new meal 3 times a day - sometimes I’m having old favorites, just depends on my mood. Hope that answers your question, let me know if you want any more info.

    - Kate
