Winning Friends with Salad

Hey guys,

Since I was running late this morning, I had to buy my lunch again - not my favorite thing, but it did give me the opportunity to go to the Organic Market!  The Organic Market is a vegan- and vegetarian-friendly grocery a few blocks from my office.  I went there a few times in the beginning of my weight loss journey and was totally intimidated and a little grossed out in some cases!  But I thought so much as changed in the past few months as far as my exposure to vegan and vegetarian eating and cooking, that it could be a pleasant experience.  Boy was that an understatement!  I felt like a kid in a candy store.  So many of my favorite brands and hard-to-find products!  Now I know exactly where to go when I need one of my ‘weird’ grocery items, as P says!  I found this baby in particular, which I was really excited about:

Ezekiel CEREAL??!!!??? So I decided some yogurt and cereal needed to be in my lunch, ergo:

Then I headed to Guy & Gallard and got a Gruyere, Avocado, Sun-Dried Tomato sandwich with alfalfa sprouts on a whole wheat baguette:

And about 2 cups of watermelon, yum!

Well, as soon as I got through the sandwich and watermelon, I had no room for more!  Which is just as well, because it would have been a very caloric lunch if I had eaten everything seen here.  Lunch, minus the Ezekiel cereal and yogurt (I’ll have them for snack later), was 568 calories, 93g carbs, 18g fat, and 17g protein.

I’m heading into a lunch coma - maybe an iced coffee will be in the cards!
