  • Upsetting Morning

Hey all! I’ve had a stressful morning so far. I missed a call from my dad at 6:45 AM, and when I called him back, I couldn’t get through. I called my dad’s office, and his secretary told me he wasn’t in because there was a death in the family!! So I immediately began freaking out calling my dad - still not able to get through. 20 minutes of worrying later, I finally got through to my mom and she told me that everything was fine, we’d never met the person who died, it was a 5th cousin or something. Oh my goodness. So terrifying.

Anyway, on to food. As promised, I mixed it up with a new type of cereal:

I’m the only person in the world who doesn’t like Peanut Butter Puffins, so I was hesitant about this because they’re by the same company. But they looked like this cereal I used to buy for $1.99 in college. Even though it was cheap, it was my FAVORITE cereal (maybe because it was cheap). :P
I had 1 1/4c of Shredded Oats with a cup of milk and a banana. I guess it was a big banana, because you can hardly see the Shredded Oats in the picture!

This was soooo good! And probably alot more nutritious than my old college bargain cereal. Breakfast was 431 calories, 90g carbs, 4g fat, and 16g protein.

Today is CSA day, wahoo!!! Have a good one!

You’re not the only one who doesn’t like Peanut Butter Puffins! After all the raging on the blogs about how good they were, I finally bought some but was not impressed. :( They’re okay, but not something I’ll be buying again. The boyfriend likes them, so he’s been eating most of them! I think I’m more of a wheat girl when it comes to cereal as opposed to corn…

So sorry about the death in the family; but thank goodness it wasn’t someone really close to you (I do hope that doesn’t sound terrible - you know what I mean, right??).

Yeah, Puffins are overrated, in my opinion - I used to eat that Shredded Oats cereal all the time!! Enjoy!!

Also, enjoy your CSA load today :0)

Hi! I thought you might enjoy this article, it’s 100 different cereal reviews! The person doesn’t seem to like cereal much, so it kind of annoyed me, but he doesn’t enjoy puffins either.

Also thanks for letting us know that europa lists nurtitional info on their website. As someone who eats in nyc delis and cafes on a daily basis, it’s good to have some idea of the nutritional info…it just never occurred to me to check. I guess any chain with 15 or more locations nationally, has to have the info available.

Aww I LOVE Peanut Butter Puffins… I can never find them though anyway. So sad. I think I’ve seen those Shredded Oats around before though so I may have to pick them up next time I see them, they look nice and healthy :)

I love Barbara’s Bakery Shredded Wheat! The new cinnamon flavor is ridiculously good as well. I can’t even keep it in the house because I could definitely do some damage, but when I do get it, I love it with milk, and also to bulk up trail mix…yum!

I am madly in love with PB Puffins, but it’s an unhealthy relationship. I need to lay off them.

I meant to say this a couple days ago - I love the “Just do it” attitude. I have to remind myself of that far too often! And I don’t like the PB puffs, but I do love the cinnamon (because I like anything that’s cinnamon) and the original flavor.

Justy - Oh good, re: PBPs! I thought I was going to be beaten in the street for denouncing PBPs! Is that what it is about PBPs that makes them yucky - they’re made from corn? Hmm… I like Corn Chex though..

VeggieGirl - I know what you mean, that’s how I felt about it too! Shredded Oats are DELISH!

Melissa - Thanks for thinking of me! I really did like that article, although you’re right - that guy wasn’t a cereal lover! I love vanilla and cinnamon in cereal. He was a hater. They should have chosen someone who loves cereal to write that. Re: NYC nutritional, no prob! If you go into some chains (Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts), they’re actually POSTING the calorie count right next to the name of the item. So refreshing!!

    Kristie
    - Nice and healthy and tasty!! They were great -try em!

HK - You and me both! I’ll remember to take a pic before I put the groceries away.

Meghan - I think I’ve said this before, but cereal is definitely my vice. I’ve been known to put away entire boxes in a single day. I’ve become better at it - to the point where I can keep certain cereals in the house. But others, no way! Like GoLean Crunch. That cannot be in my house for more than 20 min without being ravaged! So, guess what? It’s never in my house! :P
    Betsy and Runeatrepeat
    - I think you guys are the majority on this one! I don’t know what it is about PBPs and me! I just don’t care for them. It’s my first ‘new’ food that I really just DON’T like.

Allie - Re: Just do it, Thanks! It speaks to me as well and I have to remind myself every day to JUST DO IT. It’s tough being ani adult. :P Hmm…maybe I’ll try the plan or cinnamon so I can get in bed with the Puffins on some level.

    - Kate
