Hey guys,
I ended up going to my company’s happy hour tonight and I’m so happy I did! Not only was it a beautiful night, but I had a ton of laughs with my coworkers! I have to push myself to go out sometimes (I can be quite the homebody if left to my own devices) - but I’m always happy when I do go out! I find when I get on a really regimented schedule (like I have been lately) - I can be even more reclusive! I have to remind myself to relax!
I finally had a break in my unauthorized snacking streak - I broke into my Milton’s Crackers this afternoon around 4 PM - I was totally starving for some reason! Boo, Kate! I had about 10-12 crackers (unpictured, obviously). I chugged some green tea afterwards - that soothed my stomach. Snack was 120 calories, 15g carbs, 5g fat, and 3g protein.
I left work around 5 for drinks. We sat outside at a big table on Seventh Ave. I got in some great people watching before the majority of people showed up. It was so picturesque and relaxing. I had a glass of white wine with my coworkers (unpictured again, sorry!). Everyone was in high spirits and ordered at least 6 or 7 rounds. plus 5 different appetizers! I managed to avoid all of them - woohoo! Before I knew it, it was 10:30 and there were only a few stragglers from our group left. Like I said, I’m really glad I went - it was a great time! Snack was 70 calories, 1g carbs, 0g fat, and 0g protein.
P is out with coworkers too tonight - so I just had a quick dinner when I walked in the door. You might have noticed that I haven’t had Ezekiel bread in a while - that’s because I haven’t been to a store that carries it in a while! I bought this bread at a local store as a stand-in:
Vermont Bread Company Sprouted Wheat. It was good…smaller slices than I prefer, but definitely a good sub for Ezekiel. I wanted a good old fashioned PB&J with this new jam P got:
Sarabeth’s Legendary Spreadable Fruit in Strawberry Rhubarb. I’ve said it before, but jams, jellies, mustards, marinades - this is where the money is! Jam can make or break a sandwich - and this one definitely made it! It was so freaking good. So here’s my sandwich:
Really great. I also had 1/2c nonfat vanilla yogurt with 35g raisins:
Kinda random - but tasty! Dinner was 435 calories, 84g carbs, 8g fat, and 16g protein.
I’m off to bed - I’m pretty sure work’s going to be tough tomorrow and I’ve got a morning workout scheduled, along with a morning meeting - so I need my sleep! I feel like I have something scheduled for tomorrow night, but I can’t think of it. But I know I have the CSA pickup in the afternoon. Whew, better get to it! Night!

Strawberry-Rhubarb jam = heavenly.
That snacking wasn’t unauthorized…you were hungry, so it’s authorized!
Plus you didn’t have dinner til late, so don’t feel bad about the snack!
Glad you had a good time with the happy hour…I’m the same way with wanting to be a homebody sometimes and hafta force myself to go out. I’m such an old woman sometimes…
Hey Kate, don’t worry I feel the exact same with being social sometimes as you do!But once I get to where I am going I am fine, so I am so glad you went. You definitely deserved it lady!
AND snaps to you for dodging the apps and extra drinks!!
sarabeth’s really does have the best jam ever. i could (and have) eat their jam out of the jar with a spoon. soooooooo goooood.
VeggieGirl - true story.
Justy - Re: snack, you’re right, it wasn’t truly unauthorized, because it was my snack (along with the wine). I guess the unauthorized part about it was that I just dug my hand in the box and didn’t really think about what I was doing. Kind of an out of control feeling. Hate that. Re homebody, me too!! I always feel so guilty that I’d rather be home than out at a bar. I always have fun at the bar, but I always fun at home too. Sometimes I’ll push myself to go out, and I’ll have a terrible time cuz I forced it - that’s the worst.
Caitlin P - I’m so glad other people get like this - I always thought I was so weird for choosing to stay in. Re: dodging apps and drinks, hehe, thanks!
Betsy - don’t you put ideas in my head, lady!
