  • Oversnackage

I got into a fight with some Annie’s Bunnies this afternoon that ended badly. It started innocently enough:

1 serving of bunnies with 1/3c fat free milk. I like to eat my bunnies like cereal because….I don’t know - I just do. I was stuck at work until 7 PM (on a Friday, tear) so I guess I was feeling bummed or something because about 15 min after this snack - I had two more servings of Annie’s Bunnies and milk! I don’t know how that happened! Snack was 476 calories, 78g carbs, 11g fat and 14g protein. Definitely a misstep, grr.

Because I oversnacked, I knew dinner had to be light. P and I met at nearby Mexican restaurant for an end-of-the-workweek-drink. He ordered me a Strawberry Margarita:

I took three sips of this before I realized I still had to workout tonight - so I gave it to Peter - he happily drank a margarita and a dacquri!

I got an appetizer for dinner, a Mexican pizza with beans, guac, sour cream, etc:

I ate two of the four pieces. I’m estimating dinner at 350 calories.

I still haven’t made it to the gym yet - if I go, I’ll have to go to the 24 hr one, which isn’t a big deal - but to be honest, I’m exhausted - mentally and physically. I haven’t decided - I’ll give you the report in the AM! Night!

Aaah I find that a lot of snacks start out like that, unfortunately! Hopefully tomorrow goes better :D

I love eating Annie’s Bunnies like that too. I used to do that with Teddy Grahams when I was a kid!

I have yet to try Annie’s Bunnies but I’ve definitely suffered the oversnacking with Teddy Grahams. They are delish dunked in milk so next time I think I’ll give em a try cereal style!

I love that photo of the margarita! It’s all twilight-ey, like the perfect ending to a very long and not so perfect day.

Also, re the oversnackage. I say don’t worry too much. From your last entry, it looks like you probably didn’t eat enough yesterday, and your body is trying to catch up in any way it can. Which is a recipe for oversnackage — happens to me when I get too busy to eat breakfast. I end up munching on something horrible like potato chips or peanut M&M’s all afternoon, because my body unfortunately has not figured out that healthy yogurt-and-granola breakfast is NOT calorically equivalent to 15 zillion handfuls of junkfood.

Everything looks delicious. I haven’t heard of those Annie’ Bunnies before, hopefully I will be able to find them in Canada somewhere!

    Oatmeal - so true.

Runeatrepeat - oh, good! I’m not alone! :)

Kristie - TG’s are awesome as well - do try ‘em cereal style - it’s awesome!

Sara - Re margarita: TOTALLY! Re oversnackage, you’re probably right, I probably didn’t eat enough the day before. That’s the great thing about being in tune with your body - there’s usually a easily decipherable reason for your aches and pains!

Sharon - Definitely seek them out. Here’s their site: http://www.annies.com/ Love them.

Hi Kate- I have been reading your blog for a long time but am a first time commenter. I LOVE YOUR BLOG. You show us how you can be a busy New York girl- which means working lots, eating out lots, and enjoying a *normal* social life while still being superhealthy!
I think your “oversnackage” was hardly that- sometimes our bodies just want a little more, and Annie’s bunnies are so delicious. Plus, you appear to have such a balanced and perfectly portioned diet, an extra serving of an organic snack here and there is nothing. Keep up the good work and thanks for being so inspiring!
