Hey guys,
I managed to sneak out of the office to get in a workout this afternoon - score! I did some Cardio Wave, Elliptical, and some mat work with weights. I knew I was going to forget something when I packed up my gym back this morning and sure enough - I forgot the watch part of my HRM, but remembered the strap itself. Boo. So I’m not sure how many calories I burned exactly - but I think around 350 - I’ve definitely had harder workouts.
When I got back to the office, I was hungry (I don’t think lunch was too caloric), so I ate my snack: a Clif Mojo bar in Peanut Butter Pretzel.
This is a new bar, and is supposed to be like trail mix in bar formed. I was actually really suprised when I opened it:
Sorry it’s not a great shot. The bar itself is not really a bar, but loosely held together trail mix with honey as a binder. You can actually see the individual pretzel sticks and pb chips. Suprising but super tasty! Snack was 200 calories, 21g carbs, 9g fat, and 10g protein.
After finishing up another stressful day at work, I met up with my friends Eva and Brooke for a drink. We went to this cute little restaurant, Angelina’s Cafe, split a bottle of wine and talked for 3+ hrs. There is really nothing better for your heart and soul than a good long talk with your girlfriends.
I had two glasses of white wine (unpictured).
The girls split an appetizer, and later, an entree, but I decided I’d rather have an entree all to myself. I got a smoked salmon sandwich on whole wheat with greens on the side. It was so amazingly delicious. My camera batteries died just as I was reaching the restaurant, so I took this shot of my entree with my phone. Not bad, right?
I’m estimating this dinner at 600 calories.
Tomorrow I have an early meeting with my boss, then my appt with the nutritionist at 1. Cannot wait. Hopefully I’ll be able to do a morning workout. Cross your fingers!

Mmmm..that bar looks yummy. I’ve had one of the other ones (the one with the green) and that one was really good too!
Best of luck with the nutritionist. Can’t wait to hear all about what kinds of things she has to say! I think it’d be really neat to talk to one just to see what areas of eating you’re doing right and what needs improvement.
Going out with friends for dinner is such a great do it for yourself activity. I need to do it more often.
Hi Kate! I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks now, but this is my first post. How did you find your nutritionist? Through recommendations? I’ve been thinking about getting one myself but don’t know anyone to guide me in the right direction. I’d appreciate any help. You’re doing great on your weightloss, keep up the good work!!
Good luck with your appointment with the nutritionist!!
Sounds like such a wonderful evening. I hope all goes well with your nutritionist!
Your post has almost ALL of my favorite foods in it: clif mojo bar, salmon, bread and salad. Don’t you just love when all of your food tastes so delicious?
I had that bar a long time ago and loved it, and forgot all about it. It reminds me of those nature’s valley sweet and salty peanut bars, but better for you. Oh man. I might have to track one down today.
wow you really can see those little peanut butter chips. DROOL! Did it taste like real peanut butter or did it have that fake “wannabe” pb taste that a lot of bars have?
also, if you don’t mind me asking (no prob if you don’t want to answer) but how much are you paying for the RD? I’m interested in going to see one but it seems like they are so much money that I just don’t know if it is worth it? Are you just doing one session or are you going to be seeing one regularly? I’m really looking forward to hearing what she tells you!

Melissa S. - I’ll have to try the other one - this one was great!
Kristie - Re RD, My feelings exactly. I just want someone to definitively tell me, you’re great at this, you need work with this.
Heather - Thanks for commenting! I looked up nutritionists in my area on my insurance provider’s website, then I Googled her the ones I found. I loved Keri’s website and ideas about health, plus she’s been featured in Glamour and fitness mags, and been on Good Morning America and the Today show! (Not that those things are essential, but they’re nice.) Thanks for your support, re: weightloss!
VG - THANKS!
CJ - Thank you!!
Meghan - Maybe it was the two glasses of wine, but that sandwich was so FREAKING delcious…
Arielle - DO IT.
Sarah - Totally legit PB flavor. It was a really quality bar, and definitely a different vibe from a regular Clif Bar. My RD is covered by my insurance, so I just have to pay the co-pay for a specialist, which, under my plan, is $30/visit. That, to me, is definitely worth it. I don’t know how regularly I’ll see her - I’ll probably find out today. It helps that I’m already food journaling, so we don’t have to wait a week to get the results of that - that will probably speed up the process. I bet I’ll have a couple of visits with her at least.
