Hey all,
I woke up this morning around 11:30 after a very comfortable and restful sleep on my new bed! P is still adjusting to the firmness (or lack thereof - the old bed was a rock with a pole right through the middle of it), but I loved it. I had planned to go to a class at noon at the gym, and I was pleased that I woke up in time to do it! While I was getting ready, I had a slice of Ezekiel toast with a tbsp PB:
Pre Workout Snack was 170 calories, 18g carbs, 9g fat, and 8g protein.
At the gym, I tried the Total Body Conditioning class, which I’ve done before but not since my weight loss began. NYSC describes it as:
Total Body Conditioning: This workout uses weights and/or bodybars to promote muscular endurance, flexibility and body alignment.
Basically a strength class. Sweet, sign me up! Class was great! Lots of weight lifting and squats, lunges, push-ups (which I cannot do for the life of me) and so on. No real rest, just moving, moving, moving. I was surprised how high my heart rate was the whole class! We finished out the class with some great ab work and stretching. I think I’m going to start incorporating this class into my schedule twice or thrice a week! TBC Class = 567 calories burned.
While I was walking home, this song came on my Ipod, and - I’m sorry - it just made my day. I was groovin down 8th ave.
After I got back and showered, I convinced Peter to go to brunch - he wasn’t really in the mood for some reason.
Probably because the apt is still in shambles - there’s so much work to be done around the house! Anyway, I convinced him to go to one of our favorite places to order in from - the Bus Stop Cafe. We’ve never been there in person before - and I’m so glad we did! It was awesome!
I started out with an iced coffee:
I also got a mimosa that came with my brunch:
For brunch, I had about 4 oz of lox with about 2 tbsp cream cheese with onions, lettuce, tomatos and capers on a bagel:
Yum - such a satisfying brunch! Love lox! Brunch (including drinks) was 599 calories, 64g carbs, 17g fat, and 33g protein.
Now we’re back at the apt, ready to clean, clean, clean! Have a great Sunday!

Look at that mimosa!! You always order the most gorgeous drinks :0)
I love group exercise classes- They really help keep me motivated, and it sounds like you found a good one to incorporate your strength training, fun!
Sorry to be behind on your postings…but I hope everything is okay with your family…and I’m so sorry you had a stressful 4th!
On a happier note, your bagel looks fab… I remember always loving lox as a kid! And your sandwiches always look good..whether they are turkey or PB n J.
Have a great evening Kate!
Sounds like you had a good workout! It’s amazing how some weight training can really up your heart rate! You might be sore tomorrow, though…although I always like that slightly sore feeling
I had no idea what lox was…just knew it looked like salmon, and apparently (after looking it up) it is! That must be why I didn’t know what it was…cuz I’m not a big fish eater. Although I am trying to work on it, I think I’ll always just stick with the milder, white fishes.
VeggieGirl - Love brunch drinks.
Ashley - I go back and forth on classes. Sometimes I love ‘em - sometimes I can’t stand ‘em. Lovin this one now!
GlidingCalm - Thanks love! Everything and everyone is oaky - thanks for your concern. I didn’t try lox until I was 19 or so…but man. Love at first bite.
Justy - I’m wondering if I’ll be sore..I guess we’ll see tomorrow! Re lox, I am really not a big fish eater (I have some tilapia in my freezer from months ago that I scold myself every day for not using), but I LOVE lox/smoked salmon (same thing). It really is the non-fish eater’s fish. It’s so freaking tasty. Give it a try!
