  • Dinner at 5 Ninth

I had a nice calm afternoon, which has helped my spirits. It felt good to have some time to myself to think about things - plus getting some much needed toxin release! My dad has always said that I’m just one of those people who has too much energy - I NEED to exercise or I’ll drive myself crazy. The older I get, the more I realize he’s right.

Around 3 I got a little hungry, so I had 7 almonds and another crunchy oatmeal cookie.

My heart really wanted to turn this one cookie into 10 cookies, but I knew that would not be good for anyone, so I scaled back to one and added almonds for satiety. Snack was 109 calories, 11g carbs, 7g fat, and 3g protein.

An hour later I really wanted to turn that one cookie into 20 cookies, so I got an iced coffee:

    That did the trick.

When I got home I had 90g 0% Fage and 26g Strawberry Rhubarb jam:

Mmm - this was an excellent use of jam! Expect to see this again! Pre Workout Snack was 101 calories, 17g carbs, 0g fat, and 8g protein.

I have been have week-day mixups all this week. I could have sworn today was Thursday - so I showed up for the 6:15 Total Body Conditioning class. But it’s at 8:00 on Wednesday nights! Grr! I hate when my workout gets messed up. I debated leaving and coming back, but I thought two things a) what am I going to do if I go home? Probably eat unnecessarily or watch tv unnecessarily. and 2) am I really going to come back? Probably not. So I did funky elliptical and then Cardio Wave for a total of 20 min. Then I did some weights and ab work. Since I missed my second C25K run this morning, I decided to make a night of it and tack it on to the end of my workout. As I was leaving the gym, I ran into this young gentleman:

Hey, it’s Chelsea, what do you want?

As I was starting out on my run, I got some painful twitches in my hips and bum area, but it went away after a few min. The rest of the run was easy. I ran through the Meatpacking District and saw this cool outdoor reggae band a few blocks from the apt. I made a note to go back later. As I was rounding the corner onto my street, guess who I saw again???

Seriously, I think he might be stalking me.

Anywho, Cardio, Weights, and C25K 1.2 = 819 calories burned.

P came home not long after I got back, and we decided to go check out that reggae band. The band was right in front of Nero’s, so we decided to try there for dinner. UNFORTUNATELY, the concert was over and Nero’s was booked. BOO. Just not my day. It did give us the chance to try this new really cute restaurant called 5 Ninth. We sat outside in the CUTEST little garden area surrounded by ivy. Here was our view:

    Mmm. Love.

After today, I needed a DRINK. I got a fancy gin one called the Floradora: Gin, lime juice and ginger ale, with a dash of raspberry syrup for color.

Good and strong, just what I needed.

To start, I had the Chilled Zucchini Soup: beau soleil oysters, lightly minted cream, and zucchini strips.

Really great - the zucchini strips had such a great flavor!

For an entree, I had Crab Fettuccine: roasted peppers, snap peas, zucchini, parmesan, arugula with peekytoe crab. (I‘m usually not such a pasta girl, but the menu was limited and this sounded delicious)

Delicious! I don’t know which pasta dish was better - last nights or tonights - don’t make me choose!

P “convinced” me to get dessert, so he helped me with this coconut custard thing that was only okay (and difficult to photograph!). :( This pic makes it look big, it was only the size of a small fist.

Even though this was a large dinner, I’m glad I had a calm, thought-through, planned-out, gourmet meal than housing a box of cookies. :)

    Night guys.

Great job resisting the cookies, I don’t think I would have been so strong, especially on a rough day. Hope today is better!

Bridget - It was a toughie, but I’ve caved far too often these days!

OMGG Ted Allen! I swoon everytime I see him on Top Chef or some other Food Network show!

I envy the fact you have such a handsome stalker! LOL :)

Thank you cas08 - it’s a tough life, but someone has to live it! :P Apparently Ted Allen is not as popular as one would hope as nobody commented on his undying love for me.

Now Carson Kressley! I bet he’d get some comments.
