  • Hungry Girl

I woke up this morning and I was hungry. I’m not sure that I got enough calories yesterday. As you might have noticed, I’m taking a break from calorie counting. Keri (my nutritionist) isn’t a fan, and life has just been so busy lately (with no signs of slowing down), that I just really don’t have the time or energy to spend counting. Maybe I’ll pick it back up when I have more time but for now I’m just focusing on eating when I’m hungry, getting as much protein as I can, and stopping before it’s too much. I have a meeting with Keri next Tuesday, so I’ll get her take on how well I’ve been doing this.

Anyway, I was hungry, so my loving boyfriend was kind enough to fix me a snack:

Cinnamon Raisin Chollah bread with PB and a few walnuts on top (for satiety - how cute is he?)

I could have worked out, but I wasn’t in the mood - it’s always hard for me to go from a nighttime workout to a morning workout the next day. I’m going to to do my first C25K run this week after work today - I’ve been busy/sunburned and am behind on my runs! Got to get it together!

Since I had that big early morning snack, I wasn’t too hungry for breakfast. So I decided to skip on the banana today (trying to listen to my body). 1c Raisin Maple Peace Cereal with 1c nonfat milk:

    and an iced coffee 8)

Alright, back to work! Have a great Hump Day!

Good luck with the intuitive eating route!! I hope that it works better for you than the calorie-counting.

    Your snack looks quite scrumptious!!

VeggieGirl - Thanks! But, to clarify, I don’t think calorie counting didn’t work for me, it was very helpful in teaching me proper portions and satiety, etc. But I’m just so busy right now, I don’t have time figure out every last calorie. I do still ballpark, and I think calorie counting is great, but it’s not great for me right now. I’m trying to stay flexible with the realities of life and my schedule while still keeping to my goal.

    Melissa S. - Love chollah bread! :)

Great job on listening to yourself. I have a really hard time with this. My breakfast is ALWAYS the same, and I love it…but even if I’m full, I still eat the same thing. I applaud your efforts to not listen to routine, but yourself.

Love iced coffee in the summer :)

I agree - life is too busy to calorie count! But you seem to be doing great with still making healthy choices.

    Have fun today!

    Good luck with intuitive eating!

Hey, do you add anything into your iced coffee, and how do you make it? Do you use instant coffee mixed with water?
