  • Successful Afternoon

I achieved everything I wanted to this afternoon! Such a great feeling! I got hungry around 3 pm, so I had some almonds for a snack:

Around 4:30, I decided to have the last coconut bar - I love these things.

with our mural (which is back on track, thank goodness) in the background.

During the walk home, I started thinking about my afternoon. I planned to go to the 6:15 Total Body Conditioning class and then do my C25K 2.2 run. And I wasn’t looking forward to it. Sometimes I do look forward to working out, but today I wasn’t. I really just didn’t want to - I was tired, and this week has just been go, go, go. I wanted a rest. So I tried a new tactic. Rather than pretending I didn’t feel that way or just avoiding thinking about it altogether, I talked to myself the way you would a small child. ‘I know you don’t want to go to this class right after you get home, but it’s the only time they offer it. Why don’t you just go and it will be over before you know it? And then you can have a yummy dinner and rest and relax as much as you want.’ It worked! Rather than ignoring or suppressing my feelings, I acknowledged them and tried to work with them! I felt really in touch with myself. It was a really effective strategy. So I made it to both the class and my run! Both were great. TBC Class and C25K 2.2 Run = 621 calories burned. It may be a higher calorie burn - my HRM was doing something funky during class.

When I got home I fixed myself a turkey sandwich with red peppers, cabbage, cheese, and mustard on an Ezekiel roll.

I missed my daily banana from this morning’s breakfast - so I made banana creme yogurt. I had 1/2c 0% Fage with a small banana, vanilla, and honey.

After this picture, I added a tbsp flax. I loved this combo! Really tasty!

I’m exausted! I’m headed for an early bedtime. Night. :)

Kate you are SO inspirational–I think that many women go through these unstoppable-food-moments & can find great comfort in knowing they are not alone through your openness about your experiences!

Thanks for keeping me motivated to keep onn trying & to keep things in perspective!

I hsve been relating to your posts SO MUCH lately, especially when it comes to the emotional eating issues and trying to suppress the uncomfortable emotions instead of identifying them. Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone. I really might try that technique you used, of talking to yourself like a child. Thanks again, and I’m glad you had such a good afternoon!

I’m starting to love flax too. It can be used as an egg replacment too, which I love, because I cannot really handle eggs. :(
