  • Little bit of Old, Little bit of New

    Hey guys,

Last night we didn’t sleep so well - just adjusting to a new place, new bed, etc. Didn’t help that we had an electrical storm! The sky was really “flashy,” as I put it at 3 AM. If we weren’t so exhausted we would have stayed up and watched it - but we needed sleep!

We woke up around 9:45 AM and set about a leisurely breakfast. The breakfast of choice in Maine was always blueberry pancakes. For a little bit of a healthier twist, I mixed regular pancake batter with 1/2 batter, 1/2 old fashioned oatmeal! I enjoyed to combo of my childhood favorite inspired by my adult nutrition habits.

I made pancakes one at a time, and we sat down to enjoy each one separately after it came off the griddle piping hot. Of course this meant a 1.5 hr breakfast, but who cares? We’re on vacation. Here’s my first blueberry oatmeal pancake with a little syrup on the side:

    And my second:

    Yum! I feel totally satisfied.

Right now I’m going to make a new playlist for my IPopd, and then do my C25K run. Have a great day!

Yum! I love blueberry pancakes and you’re so right about having to have them in Maine. I think that’s where I’ve eaten most of mine! Seeing you guys relaxing on vacation makes me very excited about our week off in August - my boyfriend and I are staying at my parents’ and going to the beach. Totally low key and quiet.

    1.5 hour breakfast…how luxurious.

Re: the grocery store yesterday, I totally know how you feel. I’m going home this weekend and 2 things I look forward to are Target and monster grocery stores…oh yeah, I guess seeing my family should count as a 3rd ;-)

Hope you had a good run!

VeggieGirl - MUCH better sleep tonight.

UVAJess - TRUE story. Being a ‘runner’ is awesome! I feel so in control of my activity. I don’t need anything but my sneakers!

CourtneyS - Your vacay sounds awesome. I do like seeing the sights and being active, but give me low key family/boyfriend time any day.

    Jaclyn - Oh yeah, family… :P

Justy - It was awesome! :D

    hk - Thanks!

Claire - ran along the water the whole way.

Danielle - AWW! Thank you!!! That is so sweet and thoughtful of you!

Christie - Congrats on the blog. P actually did that for me… Has to do with HTML in a widget. Not complicated at all, actually!

    - Kate
