I’m never one to turn down free food. Slice of cheese pizza:
It was better than it looks, I promise.
I was worried this wouldn’t keep me full, so I had a 0% Fage with honey for the protein:
I definitely wanted to go back for another slice - but the Fage filled me up, so I’m good.
This afternoon I’ve got a training session with Mary Beth at 6 PM, which means I have to run out of here right at 5 PM, so I can get home, change, and warm up before 6 PM. After my session with her, I’ll do my C25K run. That should put me at about 8 PM or so, which will give me enough time to get cleaned up and relax a bit before meeting Eva for a drink at 9:30 PM. We’re going to the Rouge Wine Bar, which is where I’m having my birthday party in a few weeks. We’re going to go test it out - make sure it’s up to par. ![]()

Kate - quick question. How do you keep a balance in your life with finding the time to work out AND spend quality time with Pete?
I have a difficult time balancing it out myself as my boyfriend isn’t interested in working out with me and would rather take a nap after work.
It’s tough. Does anyone else have any suggestions?
Have fun at your training session, on your run, and at dinner!! Hope it’s a good restaurant!!
As stressful as those packed afternoons can be, I love them! It reminds me college when I went straight from class, to rehearsal, to the gym, to a study group, to a meeting, and so on. I would much rather have the crazy busy-ness (and the structure it provides…what can I say? I’m a bit of a control freak), than an afternoon of nothing.
Also, I think it’s so great that you’re doing the C2K plan! Running brings your workouts up to an entirely different level, and I just know you’ll love it!
i ALWAYS take advantage of free food - i try to pinch a penny whenever i can in college
have fun with your friend tonight! a G&T perhaps!?
greta idea to have the pizza with the fage… pizza never seems to fill me up.. I will usually get the gradmas slice which is like a thing sicilian with very little cheese so I just have the sauce and sprinkle on some parmasan cheese
No, trust me- that cheese pizza looks pretty good! I love how you incorporated a healthy Fage into the meal instead of having many slices of pizza and considering the meal as lost. Good for you!
Sorry it took me so long to respond! I must have missed this post!
bcgirl - What I learned about exercise and Peter (and just life in general!) is that I can’t make him do anything he doesn’t want to do. I’ve invited him on runs and try to get him to join my gym, but he’s not having it. So I try to work my exercise around his schedule. That sounds terrible, but what I mean is - Peter likes to sleep really late on weekends and then go to brunch at 1 or 2. So I wake up naturally around 10, workout, and then am ready for brunch when he is. Or on weeknights, he usually comes home around 8. So unless I have plans, I try to workout before 8, so I can be ready to go for dinner or whatever when he comes home. I just like to get my workouts in when I know he’s not going to be up for hanging out.
Maybe during your bf’s post-work naps is the perfect time to workout. Then, by the time, you’re done with your workout and he’s done with napping, you’ll both be ready for dinner!
It is tough to keep a balance - and sometimes I tip in either direction (too much P, not enough working out; too much working out, not enough P) but I’m lucky that Peter is so supportive of my exercise and fitness goals (even though he himself doesn’t want to partake) that he’ll let it slide.
Heather - I did love those packed afternoon in college - but I loved my free afternoons with an hour block of Boy Meets World and a good nap too!
Christie - The fage really filled me up! The way only 3 or 4 slices would do!
Ashley - THANKS!
