I missed the race! There was a street fair outside the apt and we decided to take a cab because we had to go across town. Even though we left in plenty of time, registration had closed by the time we got there. I was disappointing. What a huge let down. I’ve been training for months and then, nothing. Luckily I’ve got a 5k scheduled for next weekend, so that softens the blow a bit - but this was so upsetting. I actually cried a bit when we got home.
Yesterday afternoon, I had a Larabar before leaving work around 6 PM.
I met up with MaryBeth for my training session at 8. Good session, we did alot of abs and we talked about what Keri and I discussed on Wednesday. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find my HRM watch before I left, so I don’t know what my burn was. Probably 300-400 calories.
Eva and I met up at Art Bar at 8 PM, which was not the best experience - although the great company made up for it. I had to G&T’s, an eggplant sandwich and salad. Upictured because it was so dark in there that none of them came out!
After dinner, we walked around for a while trying to figure out what to do. We ended up at Magnolia, where I got a chocolate iced vanilla cupcake - unpictured again, sorry guys!
This morning, I had a pre-run snack of a banana on double fiber bread with a tbsp PB:
After the race debacle, we came home and had brunch: 2 egg whites, 1 egg with a flax waffle, blueberries and 1/2 banana with a bit of Maine maple syrup:
Right about now I’m going to clean the apt for a bit. I was hoping to be super productive with my writing this afternoon, but I’ve been so bummed out and feeling the onset of sickness that I haven’t started. I was hoping to be able to spend a nice evening out tonight, but it may turn into a working evening from home. ![]()

Dang it. I’m really sorry that you missed the race. I know the feeling - I missed a 10k one time. My friend and I had already registered so they gave us our t-shirts and some breakfast from the post-race stash of snacks. It was a bummer, but you’ve got another one coming up soon so no worries!
Aw, that does suck! I missed the only race I ever tried to be in which was race for the cure. Same thing, they closed registration before I got there. At least you have another one to look forward to soon! Have a great rest of the weekend
Ah, I’m sorry about the race! Good thing you have another one scheduled where I’m sure you’re gonna kick some ass!
Thanks everyone for being so supportive - you guys are my heartsong!
