  • Maybe Still Drunk, Definitely Still Hungover

Lovely.  Mom, don’t read this post.

Dear goodness.  Saturday night was a sh*t show.  The remnants of it are all over the Internet.  Drunk post, recap post complete with horrible, burry pictures, Ari smacktalking in the comments of my blog, and now this post.  First, during my trek out to Ari’s place in Brooklyn, I got caught in a hellish downpour.  And my hair looked so good!  Seriously, you don’t even know how good my hair looked.  And neither did anyone else because I was totally drenched by the time I got to Ari’s.  I bumped into Jaclyn on the way there and I tried to hug her hello (not realizing that I was sopping wet) and she was like, “GET OFF!”  Haha, good times.

So we got to Ari’s, she served a wonderful dinner, which nobody has mentioned because copious amounts of wine have clouded any memory of anything that isn’t cookie wine, cuddling on THE couch cubicle, and carpet cleaner.

Clearly Sunday was a complete waste, but starting again this morning with oatmeal.  I accidently poured too much milk in, so I had to compensate with extra oatmeal.  So this is two packets of Quaker Double Fiber Oatmeal in Cinnamon Swirl.  Seriously, having this oatmeal in the office has saved me so many times,

I’m even used to the texture of instant oatmeal again.  It’s soo yummy - reminds me of childhood.

    Happy Monday, gang!

  • TTFN!

    Hey guys,

Since I don’t have a computer at home right now, this might be my last post til Monday.  Sorry!  But I’ll have lots of pics from a dinner party at Ari’s on Saturday night.  Oh!  And my mom agreed to do a guest post!!  Hooray!  Expect that the middle of next week!

    Off to see the Marshmallow!

  • Come On Get Higher

    I like this song!

For breakfast day, I indulged in a bagel (although I scooped it out) and some lowfat cream cheese; fruit on the side:

Sorry there hasn’t been dinner posts lately.  It’s a combo of my computer at home being broken and me not eating anything interesting for dinner.  Literally.  Last night I had a PB&J.

Today I have a doctor’s appt and then I get to visit with Marshall! I’m having a training session with his foster dad to learn all about him.  Cannot wait!

  • Eva is in for a World of Hurt.

After days of hair-pulling frustration and multiple convos with both my host and Wordpress, I FINALLY figured out what was wrong yesterday afternoon. EVA wrote her posts in Word and copied them into Wordpress, which apparently brings with it a code that conflicts with Internet Explorer and crashes the page. Thanks a lot, Eva. She’s so fired.

I’m still going to get a new theme, but if it’s okay with you guys, I’m going to switch back to the double sidebar one in the meantime. My friend Brooke is going to design me a new theme, and I’m mucho excited. Thanks B!

So the rest of yesterday was a computer-induced wash, so on to today! I’ve been really behind the 8-ball this week as far as breakfast at home, today was another office oatmeal day.

Anything fun going on today? I’m wearing a cute sweater that makes me happy. OH and look and the adorable dog collars my friend Brooke told me about:

Precious!!! Too bad Marshall’s a boy. These collars are handmade, you can find them here, and the designer’s blog, Pecan Pie Puppies, here.

PS. I’m trying to get my mom to do a guest post.  My mom is AWESOME, and I’d love to hear what she has to say about food through her lifetime, (ie. portion sizes, meal times, etc in the 50s as compared to now).  I told her you guys would love it, but she was hesitant.  Maybe if you guys gave her some love, she’d do it.  Pretty please?

  • Problem Solved?

    Hey gang,

So I spoke to my host, and they saw the same thing I see when they loaded WFWS = no problems at all! Grr! But it doesn’t explain why so many of you have been having problems. They told me Internet Explorer just made some changes, and it might be reacting with my theme. So I loaded the most basic theme, and I’m gonna recommend using a browser that isn’t Internet Explorer. In the upcoming months, I’m definitely going to shell out for a custom theme (Happy Holidays, WFWS readers!), but this will do in the meantime. Let me know if you have any problems and thanks for bearing with me!

  • Too Busy for My Own Good

I can’t remember any of my meals for the past few days. I’m so over food - not in a hey, I’m gonna go live on protein bars for a week (who does that??) :P But in a food=fuel kinda way. There’s so much else going on that food is really taking a back seat - I’m not eating on my time table, I have to remind myself to eat, I’m eating the same things because I know they’ll keep me full. Do guys ever get like that? Do you think of it as a blessing or a curse? Because sometimes everything looks and smells so delicious that I want to eat everything in sight. Which is better - this situation or that situation?

Anyway, last night I did about a million zillion errands before heading home. I walked in the door at 10 PM - can you believe that? I was so not hungry, but I made a chicken sausage on a whole wheat bun:

For kicks I added the CSA peppers you see here. Bad move - I didn’t realize they were spicy! They ones I’ve been getting have been super mild. Those red peppers burned my face off!

Unfortunately I didn’t have time for a breakfast at home today either, but I made a nice breakfast at work: double fiber oatmeal, banana, milk, and some cereal crumbles on top:

The crumbles totally made this oatmeal - delicious!

    Have a great day everyone!

(PS. I switched back to the old theme, I think there were less problems that way. My page views have been 1/2 what they usually are so I’m really confused. What’s going on?)

  • Need New Theme

Grr…I am THIS close to shelling out buckets of money to get a theme that works. Do any of you out there have any tech experience? Can you guys see everything now? This clearly isn’t the idea theme for the blog (too plain) - but I seem to be having lots of problems with the others. Let me know if you’re having problems!

  • A Trip Down Memory Lane

Okay, so I was on the subway this morning and I saw this girl wearing sneakers and tights. Now, that may sound wrong, but on her it looked totally cute. And I started to think about how when I was in grade school I would have been appalled - you never wore sneakers with tights! It didn’t make sense to my 3rd grade mind proportionately - plus I always thought the sneakers would tear up the bottom of your tights.

Now, some of you may be shocked to hear this, but I went to Catholic School. Not for a year or two, but for 14 years! From Pre-K to Senior Year in High School. And this girl’s outfit started me thinking about what I wore in school. Obviously we had a uniform, which from 1st to 6th grade was this:

Classic, right? Except no tie (thank goodness), and I thought no pleats, but I have been corrected by my sister Emily, who assures me we had those pleats. I’m old and my memory’s going, apparently. Now, with this jumper you were supposed to wear socks in the Spring and Fall and tights in the Winter. But I hated tights with a passion - my mom would have to wrestle me into them screaming and crying. She gave that up around age 6. (I still refuse to wear tights to this day.) Anyway, I wore socks year-round. And in true 80’s, early 90s style I wore folded over white tube socks. I wanted to wear these:

    Or these:

But my mom was not having it.

Now when I was Googling around to find my jumper, I came across some really cute ones that made me bitter. Such as:

Cute! Minus the tie, of course. I’d love to have wore that. And then this one:

What the h?! I’d wear that now! (And isn’t that a little short?)

Anyway, in 7th grade you got to move up to the “big girl” uniform which was a white or blue oxford shirt and this skirt:

High school was more boring, just a plain khaki skirt - but starting in 7th grade through Senior Year of HS, these socks started creeping up all over the place:

White, sheer, over the knee socks, which my mom deemed ’slut socks’. Oh my goodness, did I want to wear these - every single day I would try to put on the one pair that I bought in the supermarket without permission with money from my after school job working in a children’s store. I never had the guts. Except for one time. I felt like a hussy the entire day. I think I may have even taken them off at lunch, I was so embarrassed for their brazenness. Haha, good times.

Annnnyway, I hope you’ll continue reading the blog despite my Catholic-School-ness. It would help if I talked about food, soo…

Before I left the office, I had an afternoon snack at 5 PM:

Luna bar in my fave flavor: Chocolate Peppermint Stick

My session with MB last night was awesome - it was a leg-heavy workout. My gams were screaming afterward! We used the rolly tube to stretch afterwards and it hurt so much. Do you guys ever use that thing? Why does it hurt so much??? Session with MaryBeth = 721 calories burned.

After the gym, I went to Trader Joe’s for some cheap groceries and then back uptown. Unfortunately I got stuck for 20 min on the subway and I was almost an hour late for dinner. So I broke into another Luna bar to tide me over - no pic, I was starving.

At home, I fixed a cilantro chicken sausage on a whole wheat roll:

This morning, I was running short on time, so I had to have breakfast at work. Quaker Oat High Fiber Instant Oatmeal in Brown Sugar, banana, nonfat milk:

with a little bit of PB on the spoon. This was surprisingly delicious! I’m really happy I had the oatmeal at the office in case of a pinch. Well done!

    Have a great day!
