Boy, I am a menace to Banana Republic.  I live right across the street from one and go there a couple times a week (I probably only buy something one every two or three weeks though – I just like to keep my eye on the sale rack).  Since 90% of my clothes are too big on me now, I basically have had to start my wardrobe over from scratch.  I’m doing this slowly because I still have weight to lose.  I know from past experience what size I’ll end up being, and I figure I can have things tailored if something really gets too big on me.  The most important thing to me is dressing the body I have right now. When I wear my old baggy stuff, it’s a downer because I look like I’m swimming in my clothes, but more importantly, I’m thinking, ‘wow, this used to be tight – man I was heavy!’ and that’s depressing.  But when I wear my new, slim fitting clothes, I’m like, ‘alright, keep it going, Kate!’  Anyway, I did quite the damage today: a pair of shoes, three tops, two pairs of shorts, and a skirt.  Plus, I walked out with a Banana Republic card, which considering how much I shop there, only makes sense: discounts, free tailoring, free online shipping, heads up on sales and private sales – plus you get discounts at Gap and Old Navy.  My mother thinks this was a huge mistake on behalf of Banana Republic. :P (Or a huge win, depending on how you look at it!)

After shopping I headed up to the rooftop of our building! for lunch and magazines.  Here’s my lunch in my portable dish on the way up to the roof:

A serving of Goddess Garbanzos plus two whole wheat pitas with a Laughing Cow wedge.  Lunch was 390 calories, 59g carbs, 10g fat, and 14g protein.

The roof was beautiful!  I was going to snap a picture of the skyline for you guys, but I forgot my camera in the apt.  Next time.  This was the first time I’ve gone up there to relax and I’ll definitely be up again.  It was so calm and peaceful and it was nice to get some sun and air!  But – I am so behind on my magazines!  I’m still not finished with Self, and I have Real Simple, Cosmopolitan, and Lucky to go!  Grr!

When I came back down I had a snack of 2 oz hemp milk, 32g of Trader Joe Country Pumpkin Spice Granola and 108g 0% greek yogurt:

Kind of a random combo, I think – but it was good.  Snack was 212 calories, 28g carbs, 5g fat, and14g protein.

Hope you’re having a great Saturday!

As I mentioned, I finally packed my lunch, hooray. I even tried a new recipe: Goddess Garbanzos from ED&BV. I followed the recipe for the most part, but made substitutions according to what I had in house – plus I made it with extra capers. Because I heart capers. :) I also had two mini whole wheat pita’s on the side for scooping.

This was tasty, and I definitely enjoyed all the different flavors. I couldn’t decide what to have with this, so I ended up just eating my emergency snack: two mini-muffins.

Although I do like these muffins, I really don’t think they’re worth the caloric investment. Two mini guys are almost 200 calories! That’s too much for something you just pop in your mouth. I don’t think they’ll be a repeat recipe. Lunch was 521 calories, 87g carbs, 13g fat, 14g protein.

Tonight I’m attending the goodbye party for my friend and colleague, Ian. :( It starts at 5. I’m planning on forgoing drinking so that I can hit up Chelsea Piers tonight. I probably will have a club soda and lime plus my workout snack at the bar. That pool is calling my name!

PS. I’m really feeling last night’s workout today! My whole body feels stretched out and strong! I’m LOVING it!

This lunch was so colorful and delicious – the best kind of lunch! To start, this salad was just kind of thrown together because I had a lot of vegetables on their way out, and I needed to get them eaten up quick. I started with the leftover chickpeas from the chickpea cutlets I made the other night and went from there. Tons of fresh veggies made this salad a crunchy rainbow of colors! The salad contains:

  • Chickpeas
  • Carrots
  • Celery
  • Tomatoes
  • Yellow Peppers
  • Dollop of Fage
  • 10g of Spicy Mustard
  • Tons of Paprika! I heart paprika!

I always need some bread-y something to feel full, so I threw in 2 mini-pitas to scoop up the salad.

I’m not the most graceful person in the world, so this got a bit messy. :P

I also had some strawberries and nonfat vanilla yogurt with a half cup Fiber 1 on the side.

Oh my goodness – this combo rocked my world!! It tasted exactly like strawberry shortcake! Sooo amazingly delicious! I will definitely be having this again. Maybe a strawberry shortcake oatmeal will be in the mix?

All together, lunch was 526 calories, 115g carbs, 1g fat, and 21g protein.

I think P is hanging out with a friend tonight, so I’m on my own for dinner. I’m thinking a new recipe may be in order…
