…for being crazy cool and spotting the reference on my t-shirt.  Here is the music video for the best song ever featured in the best movie ever which inspired the best t-shirt ever:

Swoon. Marty McFly is a dreamboat.  I’m surprised it took him this long to make it on the blog.  Really, Kate, get in the game.

Anyway, for lunch today I went back to basics with a salad!  Spinach, feta, blueberries and tomatoes:

Yum! So fresh and lovely.  On the side, I had smoothie leftovers from last night:

I am still eating this smoothie 45 min later.  Smoothies are great for satiety because you get a lot of volume for little calories, and they take a long time to eat because they’re so cold, and in this case, tart!  I get most snacky in the afternoon, so I’m hoping this smoothie will keep me full and prevent any unauthorized snackage.

So colorful and sweet.  Lunch was 408 calories, 68g carbs, 9g fat, and 17g protein.

No real plan for the afternoon…I tackled the dishes last night and I finally have a (mostly) clean kitchen!  Now I just have to get the rest of the apt looking good.  Plus a gym trip, of course.  Also I need to get a fresh manicure for the events this weekend.

Continuing in the spirit of the best day ever, I received the best t-shirt ever in the mail today. Here’s me on my way to the gym modeling the coolest t-shirt in creation:

Name the reference and I’ll give you special blog props. Or, you know, a good prize. Either one.

So if this isn’t the greatest day ever – I don’t know what is! I got home pretty early today – but still managed to put off the gym until the last possible moment. At some point in the afternoon I had a new flavor of Luna bar: Peanut Butter Cookie:

Cute story: Peter picked up some stuff grocery items last night and got a couple flavors of Luna bar that I’ve never tried before. I remarked that it was such a coincidence that he got only flavors I’ve never had and he said it was no coincidence – he’s been reading the blog and knew which types I have and haven’t had! So considerate! Pre Workout Snack was 180 calories, 23g carbs, 6g fat, and 10g protein.

As I said, I procrastinated again and did another last minute power session at the gym: fast and furious on the stepmill with a Podfitness workout. Stepmill = 475 calories burned.

When I got home, I made a huge smoothie: enough for servings for dinner and lunch tomorrow.

Dinner was 281 calories, 56g carbs, 3g fat, and 10g protein.

Night guys!

Hey all!  After tooling around the apt for the afternoon, I went out and ran some errands around the city.  By the time I realized what happened, it was 10 PM and I hadn’t had dinner.  I picked up some frozen fruit at Whole Foods, and a smoothie was the only thing that sounded appealing for dinner.  So even though it wasn’t the most balanced of dinners, I went with my craving.

My smoothie contained 1/2c nonfat vanilla yogurt, a tbsp flax, 70g raspberries, 59g blueberries, 119g strawberries, 83g pineapple, and 1/3c hemp milk:

It might not be pretty, but it was delicious!  And almost the exact color of my toes right now!  Dinner was 300 calories, 60g carbs, 3g fat, and 10g protein.

Have a great night!

Where did the evening go? I turned around and it was 11 PM! I got out of work and went shopping for a bit (whoops!), and when I got home around 7:30, I wanted a quick snack to power me up for a workout! So I made a Strawberry-Mango Mini-Smoothie! This smoothie had 56g strawberries, 31g mango, 1 tbsp flax, 1.5 oz of unsweetened almond milk, and 2 oz nonfat vanilla yogurt.

Pre workout snack had 125 calories, 20g carbs, 3g fat, and 3g protein.

So, (brace yourselves) – Peter doesn’t have a TV…. Sigh. It’s a huge point of contention. He does however have 42 inch monitor in his living room for his computer and Wii. Boys. Go figure. Of course, at my apt, I have a tv in every room, cable, DVR, the whole nine years. But here, nada. I actually don’t miss it. I don’t watch mindless television anymore. If I want to see a certain show, I can watch it on the channel’s website, and even Netflix let’s you watch movies right on your computer. But sometimes, if there is a particular show on that I can’t wait a day to upload to the channel’s website, I watch it at the gym. I really wanted to see the NBC shows tonight, so I went to the gym, got on a treadmill (and later, a bike) , and poof – 1 1/2 hrs gone by. Now, of course, I had the levels pretty low, so it was more of a stroll, but it was really relaxing and a win-win situation – I got to see my shows and exercise. Just like taking a really long walk – with tv! :) Calories burned: 565.

So when I got home, I just wanted something simple and fresh. I don’t know about you guys, but I feel so much better when I have a whole bunch of fresh fruits and veggies in my stomach – like I’m glowing from the inside. So I made a quick Spinach, Feta, and Strawberry Salad: 51g spinach, 91strawberries, 73g carrots, 26g celery, 39g tomatoes, 23g greek yogurt, tsp Champagne Mustard, 1/2 oz feta. Serves 1. I like to put my salads in containers even when I’m at home, so I can shake everything up and get it good and mixed.

Along with it, I had a whole wheat pita and a wedge of Light Laughing Cow Herb and Garlic cheese:

All together:

Dinner was 246 calories, 36g carbs, 5g fat, and 13g protein.

I’ve realized that I’m much happier with these lighter dinners. What’s that saying? – Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper. Sounds good to me! Yawn! Night!
